Protect Our Wetlands (Niagara River/Lake Erie)
Spring TA Grant Award: $2000
Project Summary:
The Niagara River Area Property Owners Group is working to protect 230 acres which contain a "Provincially Significant Wetland" forming an integral part of the much broader Baker Creek Wetland Complex. Neither the town of Fort Erie nor the Region of Niagara has policies to protect this wetland from incompatible development and have voted to proceed with the development of a golf course. Funds will be used to help support the second Ontario Municipal Board hearing and court case to confirm that this is a "provincially significant wetland."
