Bay of Quinte Shoreline Re-Naturalization
Spring Project Grant Award: $3000
Project Summary:
This project consists of a campaign to influence property owners and educate the general public on the importance of naturalized shorelines. The two main messages will be the importance of a naturalized shoreline and how critical it is to use native plants when replanting the shoreline areas. Delivery of this campaign will be through radio ads, and include public meetings, ads, brochures, etc. The campaign will include advocacy to encourage local governments to initiate policy change, a small public contest to encourage planting and acknowledge the property owner that has made the greatest change in one season, and incentives for local nurseries to ensure native plant materials are available for customers.
