Lake Basin: Lake Erie

Project Title: There is little to no need for lawn treatment companies to put phosphorus on existing lawns.
Fall Grant Award: $3000
Project Summary:

Western Lake Erie's warm, shallow biologically productive waters are vulnerable to increased phosphorous levels. Storm water runoff is contributing to the algae bloom which is a growing problem in this highly urbanized western Erie basin. Phosphorous is a known cause of the algae blooms. This project will create a power point presentation, brochures, press releases and outreach to present to at least four grassroots organizations and to at least three local governments. The theme is to ask the public to reduce or eliminate phosphorous with lawn treatments.
